Global Impact FFA members help out at Second Harvest Food Bank as part of FFA Week

Twenty-three students dedicated their time to pack 200 boxes of food, contributing to the ongoing efforts of Second Harvest in fighting hunger.
What’s happening:
The 23 students of the Global Impact FFA chapter at the STEM academy dedicated their time to packing 200 boxes of food, contributing to the ongoing efforts of Second Harvest in fighting hunger and making an impact on the community by volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank as part of FFA Week, Feb. 17-24, 2024.

How it works: This volunteer effort was spearheaded by Executive FFA Officer Sarah Waddle, whose passion for community service dates back to her 8th-grade year when she organized a successful food drive. Waddle expressed her excitement about planning this trip with her classmates, emphasizing the importance of being involved in our community. 

Twenty-three students dedicated their time to pack 200 boxes of food, contributing to the ongoing efforts of Second Harvest in fighting hunger.What they’re saying: Participant Grace Tuttle, a sophomore at Global Impact STEM Academy, shared her motivation for joining the trip, "I wanted to sign up for this trip to have an opportunity to help make a positive impact.” Global Impact FFA strives to uphold its commitment to service and leadership, empowering students to make meaningful contributions to society. 

The context: National FFA Week is an annual celebration observed by FFA chapters nationwide, highlighting the organization's impact on its members and communities. Rooted in the motto "Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve," FFA encourages a culture of service and leadership among its members. 

About Global Impact STEM Academy:  The Global Impact STEM Academy is the first STEM school of its kind in the nation, serving 600+ students in grades 7-12 while focusing on career readiness and preparing Ohio students for jobs in the fields of biosciences, such as food and agriculture, environmental studies, healthcare, and energy.
