About Us

The hub – it’s that place at the center of any network where things move, shake and radiate. In that spirit, The Hub focuses on the innovation, talent, entrepreneurship, and community development taking place in the greater Springfield community.

The Hub highlights the work of local talent — writers, journalists, thought leaders and photographers as they make their way shining a light on transformative change taking place in central Ohio. Each week, you'll see stories highlighting innovative entrepreneurs, talented people, dedicated organizations, and devoted community builders. It’s free to sign up for our weekly newsletter by clicking on the Hub logo in the bottom right of any page.

At The Hub, we pride ourselves on being a community-powered platform, supported by people who want to be part of what’s next for Springfield. We firmly believe in the progress and innovation we see happening in cities around the world, and we feature local thought leaders who are sharing their ideas and experiences to contribute to that momentum. Click on the icons in the upper right of any page for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to join the community conversation.

We leverage the power of storytelling and solutions-oriented journalism to report on and assess responses to issues that are important to the community and the people leading change. We are passionate about attachment to place as an economic and community development driver, fostering civic engagement, and supporting entrepreneurship and social innovation.

This work wouldn’t be possible without the support of our national network and regional community partners. We are a publication of Issue Media Group based in Detroit, Michigan, whose publications are supported by underwriting and partnerships with local businesses, civic institutions, community funds, nonprofits and foundations that support and expand our coverage of community and economic development, social innovation, city building and place making. Learn more about our underwriting policy here and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion here.

Our partners include a coalition of local organizations with an editorial advisory of enthusiastic, local champions. Many thanks to our supporters from the Greater Springfield Partnership, BonSecours Mercy Springfield, The City of Springfield, the Turner Foundation, Springfield City Schools, the Neighborhood Housing Partnership of Greater Springfield, Littleton & Rue, Clark State College, the Springfield Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Benjamin Steel, Park National Bank, COhatch, and Wittenberg University.
