Second Harvest Food Bank receives $75,000 grant

What’s happening: Second Harvest Food Bank announced this week that it was awarded $75,000 from Honda and the Honda USA Foundation.

According to the press release, the money will go toward supporting the food bank’s operational capacity, including funding logistics, staffing, and infrastructure needed to serve the tri-county area. Second Harvest serves Champaign, Clark, and Logan Counties and is a member of Feeding America and the Ohio Association of Foodbanks.

What they’re saying: “We are incredibly grateful for Honda’s continued commitment to corporate social responsibility. This grant will help us reach more families, more seniors, and more children with nutritious food—while also giving us the flexibility to meet the increasing need in our region. Honda is not only investing in our work—they’re investing in the health and dignity of our neighbors.” – Jennifer Brunner, Development Director at Second Harvest Food Bank.

Why it matters: According to the press release, food insecurity rates are continuing to rise, especially in marginalized communities, making this a critical time for support. Second Harvest Food Bank serves more than 56,000 people each year and distributes roughly 5 million pounds of food via a network of pantries, mobile markets, and school programs.

“The collaboration between Honda and Second Harvest reflects a growing recognition that fighting hunger requires both community involvement and corporate leadership. Honda’s investment aligns with its long-standing dedication to fostering sustainable and thriving communities across Ohio,” the release reads.
