Springfield Museum of Art reopens to the public after months of COVID-19 shutdown

The Springfield Museum of Art, 107 Cliff Park Road, is again welcoming visitors to come enjoy the exhibits and the cool atmosphere as the temperatures continue to heat up outside.

The museum – temporarily closed because of COVID-19 – is excited to once again provide an opportunity for people to enjoy art exhibits right here in Springfield.

A statement on their website says the Springfield Museum of Art is dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all.

The Museum will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, 9 to 10 a.m. is reserved for individuals who are considered high risk.

“The health and safety of all visitors, staff, and volunteers is our top priority,” the website statement says. “We are taking extra safety precautions to ensure the health and safety of all members, visitors, volunteers, and employees.”

The Springfield Museum of Art has implemented the following protocols:

  • Increased cleaning procedures
  • Hourly sanitization of high-contact surfaces
  • Limiting the number of visitors in galleries
  • Providing hand sanitizer stations throughout the Museum

The Museum requests that patrons who do not feel well, refrain from visiting. Face masks will be available onsite for visitors who arrive without them, and patrons are asked to use preventative measures such as washing hands for at least 20 seconds, using the hand-sanitizer stations provided throughout the building, and respecting physical distancing of six-feet or more between unrelated social groups at all times. Areas such as the Front Desk have been marked with floor graphics.

The Museum is currently displaying five exhibits:
